Alexander Parsons is a composer and sound designer for film, television and media, based in London. He has collaborated with a number of production companies including Mosaic Films, Silver River, Double Act, Raw Media and Teachers TV and has composed music for a range of award winning films a documentaries. These include the BAFTA award winning Animated Minds and Seeking Refuge series’ produced by Andy Glynne, for Mosaic Films.
Alexander also regularly collaborates with talented composers Sandy Nuttgens and Spike Scott and is part of the Mezzo Music Group of composers.
Alexander began his musical career at the age of four years and became an accomplished violin and saxophonist, performing on British television and across the globe in countries such as South Africa and Kuwait. In late 2004 he completed a Masters degree in composition at Goldsmiths College, London and there, became interested in the study of electronic and noise music. Hugely influenced by works of John Cage as well as contemporary Techno and Sonic artists, it is this, which influences much of his music and sound design today.
Last Summer, Alexander’s music was included in both the Opening and Closing ceremonies of London’s Olympic Games and most recently, he has completed a children’s animation series for BBC2 with Robert Webb of Peep Show fame. He is currently working with Mosaic on early stages of their animated project Nothing To Envy: A feature documentary, which is to be based on Barbara Demick‘s book of the same name.
Alexander’s score to the theatre production Stunted Trees and Broken Bridges is currently touring UK schools and Picturehouse Cinemas, before spending 3 nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
